As many of you know, with the stay-at-home order earlier this year we temporarily closed our offices at 419 Malcolm Drive and our employees started working from home.  Looking forward to the remainder of this year and beyond, there appears to be limited need to meet clients in our offices due to the restrictions on travel and our clients’ desires to limit travel until it is safer (e.g., a vaccine is available).

Accordingly, we have decided to permanently work from home and to not renew our office lease which expired on July 31, 2020.  This was a difficult decision to make, but as many of you know, Laurie operated from her home office for 16 years before we opened the office on Malcolm Drive.

In the future, much of our business can be transacted over the phone or by email.  When person-to-person meetings are necessary or desirable, we plan to meet our clients in public places such as restaurants (e.g., Panera, Starbucks).  We believe that many businesses, in the travel industry and other industries, will be changing their activities in a similar manner.

We are celebrating our 20th Anniversary in business as a travel agency.

Thank you for helping us grow to where we are today.

We are pleased to announce that Special Journeys of Westminster and Gold Coast Travel of Eldersburg have merged with Travel & Tours Unlimited.

Special Journeys, which was located in the Town Mall in Westminster, Maryland, was a full-service travel agency that had been in business for over 28 years.  Gold Coast Travel was located in Eldersburg, Maryland.  The effective date of the merger was October 31, 2015 and both agencies have closed their former locations.

We are also happy to announce that two of Special Journeys’ experienced travel agents, Ana Kirculescu and Michelle Unkart will be joining Travel & Tours Unlimited, effective November 2, 2015, and will be continuing to provide service to the clients of Special Journeys and Gold Coast Travel.

Tom “Mac” McElroy, the former owner of Special Journeys and Gold Coast Travel stated that, “the merger of Special Journeys and Gold Coast Travel with the other premier travel agency in Westminster, Travel & Tours Unlimited, will enable us to provide even better service to our clients in the future.”

Laurie Martz, the President of Travel & Tours Unlimited, stated, “We are excited to welcome the former clients of Special Journeys and Gold Coast Travel, and look forward to providing superior service with our experienced staff and cutting-edge facilities.”

Travel & Tours Unlimited, which now has 9 employees, has been in business in Westminster, Maryland for 18 years and will remain at its present location:  Malcolm Professional Center, Suite A, 419 Malcolm Drive, Westminster, Maryland 21157.

You may have seen in the newspaper or online that we were voted Carroll’s Best Travel Agency in the Carroll County Times’ Readers’ Choice Awards for 2016, the third year in a row.
